From my own childhood, I remember metal swivel chairs with bright vinyl cushions. The print was bright and bold -- green with large yellow and white daisies. Another popular piece on my grandmother's patio was a metal glider that didn't rock but instead featured a sliding motion. I remember it being painted white, then later repainted in a bright yellow.
There are pieces like these available from today's patio furniture manufacturers. The difference is that they are even more durable and lasting than their older counterparts. As previously mentioned, you're probably better off with a new piece of furniture. But if you've got your heart set on a true vintage piece for your patio, there are some places that offer restored furniture from days gone by. Inspect the piece in detail before buying to make sure it's free from rust and wear.
